The James Joyce Centre cordially invites you to a presentation of two works based on the Irish translation of Joyce’s The Dead on Thurdsay, 15 October 2026 at 6.30pm . We will be treated to a presentation by Irene Duffy Lynch of Na Mairbh , her Irish translation of The Dead (Coiscéim 2026) and a presentation by Penny Stuart of her exhibition of charcoal drawings inspired by The Dead with her accompanying art book: Líníocht le Penny Stuart ar NA MAIRBH le James Joyce : Penny Stuart Draws The DEAD by James Joyce . We will hear music of James Joyce’s era and talks by guest speakers. The event is free but booking is essential. Doors open at 6pm. Bios Irene Duffy Lynch was born in Mayo. She was educated in Univeristy College Dublin and Trinity College, Washington DC. She has written two books, Treasures of our Elders and Beyond Faith and Adventure . She has translated works by John McGahern, Chinua Achebe, Sándor Márai and Viktor Frankl. She lives in Dublin. Penny Stuart is an Irish visual artist whose practice centres on charcoal life drawing, portraiture and literature. Her ongoing The Gretta Drawings project, is inspired by ‘Gretta Conroy’, the central character in James Joyce’s celebrated short story The Dead . The James Joyce Centre is supported by the Department of Culture, Communications and Sport.
