A guided walk will take place on 23 October 2026, starting from Alfriston School at 10:00. The 5.7-mile circular route will visit Berwick and Alciston churches, featuring a gradual ascent and scenic views. Participants are encouraged to bring drinks and snacks for a break along the way.
**\*\*\* Diana is leading this walk. NB. 10am start \*\*\*** A 5.7 mile circular walk starting from Alfriston, visiting Berwick and Alciston churches via the South Downs Way and Vanguard Way. 730ft ascent in total, gradually uphill then a short but steep climb up to the South Downs Way affording fabulous views. We'll stop for our break once we reach the SDW, about half way, so please bring any drinks and snacks that you require for the walk. There are nice loos at the start and end of the walk. I hope all or some of you can join me for coffee at the Gun Room Cafe near Alfriston church. Parking is on North Road and The Furlongs. We'll be starting from North Road near the school. We'll meet from 9.45 for a 10am start. Satnavs for parking: North Road BN26 5XE The Furlongs BN26 5XS North Road school w3w:// begins.handset.chucked In case of any problems on the day, please call or text Diana on 07557 381078 in case she cannot access Meetup.
