About This Event

8–23 August 2026 | Daily 11am–5pm Artists @ Patriothall (Fringe Venue 607) Free Admission | Wheelchair Accessible While audiences flock to Edinburgh's stages this August, a different kind of Fringe discovery awaits in Stockbridge. Artists at Patriothall brings together the work of 32 artists and makers working under one roof at Patriothall Studios, creating a vibrant exhibition that offers visitors a rare glimpse into one of Scotland's most dynamic creative communities. Set within Patriothall's striking industrial gallery space, the exhibition showcases an extraordinary range of contemporary practice, from ceramics, jewellery and mosaic to painting, photography, printmaking, weaving and tapestry. The result is an immersive visual experience that celebrates the diversity, skill and innovation thriving within Edinburgh's artistic landscape. For Fringe visitors seeking something beyond the stage, Artists at Patriothall offers the opportunity to discover original artwork, meet the stories behind the makers, and explore one of Edinburgh's longest-running artist studio complexes. Works range from collector pieces to smaller affordable artworks, allowing visitors to take home a unique memento of their Fringe experience. Adding a compelling documentary dimension to the exhibition, photographer Alix McIntosh presents a series of intimate studio portraits capturing artists within their working environments. The project reveals the creative processes, tools and spaces behind the artworks on display, offering visitors a rare behind-the-scenes insight into contemporary artistic practice. The exhibition is hosted within Patriothall Gallery, part of Wasps (Workshop and Artists Studio Provision Scotland), one of Scotland's leading cultural organisations. Through its network of studio spaces, restoration of historic buildings and artist development programmes, Wasps plays a vital role in supporting creative communities across Scotland. "This exhibition is an opportunity to experience the breadth of talent working in Edinburgh today," says exhibiting artist Sarah Knox. "Visitors can encounter everything from emerging voices to internationally recognised practitioners, all within a single exhibition that celebrates the energy and diversity of our studio community." Located just minutes from Edinburgh city centre, the exhibition offers Fringe audiences the chance to discover a hidden cultural destination in the heart of Stockbridge.
