About This Event

The Scottish Storytelling Centre hosts Easy Sundays: Folk Foundations on 4 October 2026 from 15:30. Singer and fiddle player Rachel Beattie leads the session to help participants learn new folk tunes and songs by ear. It is designed for musicians with some experience looking to develop their skills and confidence. The session is supported by TRACS and the Scottish Storytelling Centre.

Play an instrument and enjoy singing? Keen to get involved with session playing but not sure how? Want to learn songs & tunes and build your confidence in a relaxed environment? Join Rachel Beattie, singer and fiddle player, to learn some new folk tunes and songs. The session will primarily focus on learning by ear and is a great introduction for anyone looking to learn some tunes to join in local folk sessions, to grow their tune book or simply come together with fellow musicians! Please note this session is designed for those who have some experience playing an instrument and are looking to develop their skills and confidence. This event is part of Easy Sundays, a regular session of stories, music, community and friendship with a variety of activities for all to enjoy. Supported by TRACS (Traditional Arts and Culture Scotland) and the Scottish Storytelling Centre to create a warm and welcoming space for the community.
