About This Event

Create a vibrant floral bouquet from colourful fabrics, learning how to combine raw-edge appliqué with free-motion embroidery. You’ll be introduced to the basics of FME, then use stitching to add detail, texture and character to your design. You can follow one of my designs or create your own composition. Free-motion embroidery and appliqué were in the spotlight on Great British Sewing Bee recently - and they're two of my favourite textile techniques. In this creative textile art workshop in Edinburgh, you'll combine raw-edge appliqué and free-motion machine embroidery to create your own beautiful botanical artwork. You'll learn how to build up a design using pieces of fabric, then use your sewing machine to draw, stitch and add texture and detail. And the best bit? You don't need an embroidery machine. Your ordinary sewing machine becomes your creative tool.
