Join us on a walk full of history and gorgeous coastal views. We start in the village of East Wemyss, passing the ruins of Macduff Castle and Wemyss Caves on the way to the pretty tiled houses of West Wemyss. We pass the lovely New Hope Kirk and the tile murals on the cliff walls as we head into Dysart. This is a one-way route, ending at the Harbour Master’s Café if you fancy tea and cake after the walk. Dysart is well served by buses, and at the end of the route participants can choose to walk further into Kirkcaldy or will be guided to nearby bus stops serving routes to Kirkcaldy and beyond, or back to East Wemyss. Additional Information Participants should be able to walk 4.5 miles at an easy pace. Walk is on pavement and track, mostly level. There are 3 sets of steep stairs and a small section of rough ground. Please note that this walk is weather-dependent. In the event of forecast adverse weather, Greener Kirkcaldy staff will decide whether to go ahead with the walk the day before. We will contact attendees via phone, email and any cancellation will be also posted on Facebook if the walk cannot go ahead. Please wear appropriate clothes for the weather. Please bring your own water and snacks. Under 16’s must be accompanied by an adult. No dogs please. If you want to know more specific information about the route please contact us. You can call 01592 858458 or email info@greenerkirkcaldy.org.uk . Booking Instructions Our booking form includes a series of optional anonymous questions. These help us learn more about the people we reach through our events. Any information you choose to share about your background is managed separately to information that you give us to process your booking (for example, your name). If you are having trouble booking you can call 01592 858458 or email info@greenerkirkcaldy.org.uk for assistance. Accessibility information Most of the route is on good level tracks but there are several sets of steep steps which can be slippery in wet weather. A small section of the path has suffered coastal erosion and other parts may be muddy. These sections will require care and attention, and the leader will ensure that everyone is able to take their time. This walk is not suitable for wheelchairs.
