Don't miss this exclusive two-hour masterclass with internationally acclaimed poet Joelle Taylor! Scotland's premier spoken word night Loud Poets is delighted to welcome internationally acclaimed poet Joelle Taylor to Scotland for their October touring showcases. As part of her tour, Joelle is offering a masterclass in Edinburgh on the theme of worldbuilding. This will be an intimate masterclass limited to 20 participants, so book quickly! Ever wondered where a poem could go when it leaves the page? Join T. S. Eliot Prize-winning poet, author, and playwright Joelle Taylor to explore what new shapes poems can take on, whether they expand into novels, transform into film, or find their final shape in theatre. With writing exercises throughout, participants will experiment with worldbuilding, employing different forms to consider which elements make each distinct, and which most fire their imagination. Suitable for everyone willing to play and take risks. Joelle Taylor is a queer, working class author of six plays, a novel, and four collections of poetry. Her collection C+NTO & Othered Poems won the 2021 T.S. Eliot Prize and the 2022 Polari Book Prize for LGBT authors, and is currently being adapted for the stage. She is a fellow of the Royal Society of Literature and the host and co-curator of Out-Spoken, the UK’s premier poetry and music club, currently resident at the Southbank Centre. Her latest collection is Maryville, which spans fifty years in an underground lesbian bar.
