‘Catch Of The Day’ a solo feature show highlighting the work of Rob Shaw will debut in the gallery from Friday 23rd October. There is an irresistible joy in the work of Rob Shaw, a former interior architect who traded blueprints for palette knives, Shaw builds rich, sculpted topographies of oil paint – capturing Britain’s coasts and marine life with a refreshing, modern twist. Inspired by the picturesque fishing villages of Scotland’s East Coast and the rugged harbours of Staithes in North Yorkshire, Shaw captures marine life with a playful, contemporary edge. Whether it’s a school of vibrant mackerel gliding across the board or a solitary blue lobster suspended against a bold mustard backdrop, his paintings bridge the gap between abstract energy and instantly recognisable charm.
