A workshop exploring self-revelatory arts will be held at the Edinburgh Open Workshop on 31 October 2026. The event is aimed at performers, artists, and those interested in storytelling. Tickets range from £27.80 to £33.22.
Everyone has a story worth telling. Whether you're a performer, artist or just curious, join us for an exploration into self-revelatory arts
Bringing our real lives into our creative work requires both courage and a safe structure. This workshop is an invitation to look at your personal history from a new angle, using the distance of theatre, ritual, and play to explore what you want to say.
Welcome to an exploratory, hands-on workshop designed to spark your creativity, deepen your self-compassion, and leave you feeling empowered. Led by registered dramatherapists Abigail Nelson and Kate Stevens, these sessions (online and in-person) are a reflective, experimental playground for anyone interested in using the arts to explore who they are and what they want to say.
Rather than creating a finished piece during the session, you will explore a range of reflective and creative exercises and techniques to bravely begin your own journey.
Together, we will:
Explore: Use playful warm-ups and dramatherapy frameworks to gently see what parts of you and your story want to be expressed.
Experiment: Play with telling your story through metaphor, ritual, projection and embodiment, dipping a toe into a variety of self-revelatory arts techniques to find your unique, authentic creative voice.
Connect: With yourself and others, discovering the power of witnessing and being witnessed to transform the way we tell and relate to our personal and collective stories
Absolutely zero professional creative experience is required. Whether you are an artist looking to unblock a project, or simply curious about creative wellbeing, this is about process and play, not perfection. Come to connect with a warm, shared space, feel witnessed by others, and walk away with a fresh toolkit of ideas and methods. All materials area provided, along with tea, coffee and buscuits!
Join us online on Thursday 22nd October (6.30pm-9pm), or in-person in Edinburgh on Saturday 31st October (1pm-5pm).
Important note: While held by dramatherapists and exploring therapeutic techniques, this is not a therapy session. There is zero pressure or expectation to share anything you aren't completely comfortable with.
Hear it from our past participants:
“Abigail is simply WONDERFUL! I’ve been lucky enough to attend 2 of her workshops and both have been amazing and I left with so much more understanding of myself and what’s really going on in my heart & mind. I loved using creativity to learn more about myself, I can’t wait to attend another workshop!"
“Thank you. I am so grateful for your help. I feel free and connected. I’m no longer carrying this burden around with me. I have learned to challenge my thoughts and enjoy being me. Thank you Kate”
