About This Event

This workshop examines the historical context of forensic science through the lens of past bombings. Specifically, it will detail how the Glasgow bombings from the 1800s influenced modern methods of investigating terrorism. The session is free and located at The Royal Society Of Edinburgh in Edinburgh on September 10th, 2026.

How the Glasgow bombings of the 1800s shaped how we investigate terrorism today.

If you are a true crime enthusiast, history buff, or simply intrigued by the fusion of science and justice, this deep-dive talk promises riveting discussions and thought-provoking insights about the history of terrorism and its investigation in the UK.

Based on the latest multi-award winning podcast series from Inside Forensic Science, a panel of experts, led by broadcaster Pennie Stuart, looks closely at what happened during a series of bombings in Glasgow in the late 1800s, and how those events shaped the ways we investigate terrorism today.

To help you get familiar with the topics our experts will be discussing, listen to the latest series of Inside Forensic Science before joining us for the talk.
