On September 5th, visitors can participate in a Women’s History Tour at Edinburgh Castle, exploring the Royal Mile and learning about women's contributions throughout history. Starting at the esplanade outside Edinburgh castle, Ruth will take you downhill along the Royal Mile to Holyrood Palace, explaining not just the history of Edinburgh but also highlighting women from the past, from the well-known to what life was like for those who left no record in history.
The tour will take three hours in total, and will be outside with no shelter so please wrap up according to the weather conditions! It is all downhill, but with many cobbles. There are no official toilet stops along the way, but we can make a stop at a cafe along the way for take away refreshment if needed. There are no seats along the way.

Where and when do we meet?
Please meet at the top of the esplanade of Edinburgh Castle, to the left of the drawbridge entrance, 15 minutes before the tour is due to start.
Where will we finish?
We will finish outside Holyrood Palace/Scottish Parliament at the bottom of the Royal Mile.
Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

Please be aware that there are no seats available along the route, so the three hours will be on your feet, walking and standing. You are responsible for your own safety. Taking part in the tour means you are participating at your own risk. If you have pre-existing conditions that may be relevant or feel unwell during the tour, please let your guide know. You are also responsible for looking after your own belongings.
