We invite you to join a creative workshop exploring the value of continuity of care in GP practices at Mount Pleasant Surgery, Exeter.

Sixty years ago, it might have been easier to see one family doctor, often for a whole lifetime. Or so we remember it; the history is more tangled than that. Today it might be a phone queue at 8am. For one day, Mount Pleasant Health Centre hosts a pop-up time machine: a recreated 1960s consulting room alongside the consulting room of today.

We invite attendees to contribute to a creative workshop where they can reflect on their own experience of waiting and care, using artistic and creative practice. Everything you choose to share, written or recorded, feeds into a public exhibition opening in the city two days later.

This event is part of Being Human Festival, the UK’s national festival of the humanities, taking place 5–14 November 2026.
