In this illustrated talk, Senior Curator Heather Robertson delves into the Glasgow Salaam Festival 1997 archives to uncover the story behind one of its standout projects: a Daihatsu Hijet van transformed in the vibrant tradition of South Asian truck art by artist Afshan Abid and Glasgow art students. Heather will introduce the van, now on display at Riverside Museum, and highlight beautiful examples of genuine truck art held at Glasgow Museums Resource Centre.
ACCESSIBILITY: This talk will be held in a room that can be gotten to via lift or stairs. The talk will be seated with a PowerPoint Presentation. Wheelchairs are available to borrow. If BSL interpretation or audio description would be helpful please let us know. It can take time to book interpreters so as much notice as possible is very much appreciated.
