About This Event

Glasgow Caledonian University will host an afternoon celebrating its culinary roots on 28 August 2026. The event includes a celebratory tea with Michelin-starred chef Lorna McNee and tickets are priced at £30 or £250 per table of ten.

Join us for a celebratory - and seriously tasty - Afternoon Tea as we kick off GCU’s 150th anniversary weekend on Friday 28 August at 1pm. We’re marking 150 years since the founding of the Glasgow School of Cookery, the pioneering institution that shaped today’s Glasgow Caledonian University. To honour our roots, we’re delighted to welcome Michelin‑starred chef Lorna McNee, known for her modern, seasonal take on Scottish cuisine and her role as chef director of Glasgow’s Michelin‑starred restaurant, Cail Bruich. Taking centre stage, Lorna will also share her expertise as part of a panel exploring the legacy of the original Glasgow Cookery Book, created by our founding institutions. Expect great food, great stories and a relaxed afternoon with plenty of flavour. You’ll also have the chance to purchase our special anniversary reprint of the Glasgow Cookery Book, featuring favourite recipes and top cooking tips from GCU alumni.
