"There's been a murder." Few television catchphrases are as instantly recognisable or as deeply woven into the cultural identity of Glasgow and Scotland as those four words. Join acclaimed actor Dr Blythe Duff, best known for her long-running role as Jackie Reid in Taggart, in conversation with Carole McCallum, former University Archivist and author of Glasgow Caledonian University. Having worked closely with Blythe in bringing her Taggart scripts into the University Archives, Carole will explore with her the enduring legacy of one of Scotland's most iconic television dramas. For more than 25 years, Taggart brought Glasgow to screens around the world, becoming a defining part of Scotland's television heritage. We’ll reflect on the programme's cultural impact, its connection to the city and why preserving its history matters for future generations. The discussion will also explore Blythe’s decision to donate her Taggart scripts and archive material to Glasgow Caledonian University, helping to preserve and share this iconic piece of Scottish television history with future generations. Blending memories, stories and reflections on the changing landscape of television and popular culture, this is a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes of a programme that became a cultural phenomenon and to discover how archives help keep our shared stories alive. Whether you're a lifelong Taggart fan, interested in Glasgow's cultural heritage, or simply curious about the stories behind one of Scotland's most beloved dramas, don't miss this fascinating conversation.
