Antony Szmierek is a Manchester-born poet, writer, and producer who has rapidly transitioned from being a teacher to one of the UK’s most distinctive musical voices. Often described as a blend of Mike Skinner’s 'pavement prose' and Simon Armitage’s poetry, his style fuses indie-hip-hop with dancefloor-ready electronica. He gained significant momentum after being named a BBC Radio 6 Music "Artist of the Year" and performing on Later... with Jools Holland. His work is celebrated for its wit and empathy, often documenting the specific details of everyday life. Following his 2025 debut, Service Station at the End of the Universe, his second album, Decoding Birdsong, is set for release in August 2026 and features a shift toward more collaborative, acid-house-influenced sounds.
