One of Britain’s most acclaimed and distinctive singer-songwriters Emeli Sandé has announced a monumental UK tour to celebrate 15 years of her landmark debut album Our Version of Events . Emeli will be performing her celebrated x8 time platinum album in full alongside her greatest hits. Our Version of Events was the biggest selling album in the UK of 2012 and 2013, selling more than five million copies worldwide. It features much-loved hits including Next to Me , Read All About It (Pt. III) and Clown . Celebrated for its emotional depth and exceptional songwriting, it won British Album of the Year at the 2013 BRIT Awards, while Next to Me received two Ivor Novello Awards. The record spent an extraordinary 66 consecutive weeks in the UK Official Albums Chart Top 10, setting a record for the longest unbroken Top 10 run by a debut album, surpassing the 62-week run of The Beatles’ Please, Please Me. Throughout Emeli’s remarkable career, she has sold millions of albums worldwide, earned four BRIT Awards, established herself as a highly sought after songwriter having collaborated with the likes of Rihanna, Katy Perry, Alicia Keys; and received an MBE for her services to music. The power of her live presence has brought her all around the world, from headline tours and major festivals to some of the most significant cultural events in the UK, performing at both the opening and closing ceremonies of the London 2012 Olympic Games, which remain career-defining moments for her. More than a decade after Our Version of Events first introduced her to the world, Emeli Sandé remains an artist with something to say — and a voice capable of making sure people listen. -- Born and raised in rural Aberdeenshire – the daughter of a Zambian father and a mother from a Cumbrian family - Sandé discovered from an early age that music gave her a sense of freedom and a space in which to express herself. She began writing songs as a teenager and, while music was always her passion, she went on to study medicine at the University of Glasgow. Ultimately, she made the decision to leave medicine behind and pursue her dream of a career in music. Moving to London proved to be a turning point. There, Sandé met producer and songwriter Naughty Boy, and the pair began writing together, establishing a creative partnership that would play an important role in the early stages of her career. Their first major breakthrough came in 2009, when Sandé co-wrote and provided vocals for Chipmunk’s Diamond Rings . The track became a UK Top 10 hit and introduced her distinctive voice to a much wider audience. She subsequently collaborated with Wiley on Never Be Your Woman , another UK Top 10 hit, while continuing to establish herself as a sought-after songwriter, writing for and collaborating with artists including Rihanna, Katy Perry, Alicia Keys, Leona Lewis, Professor Green, Tinie Tempah and Cheryl Cole. Sandé began to step out from behind the scenes and establish herself as an artists in her own right, and following the overwhelming success of her debut album, Emeli has continued to evolve as an artist, releasing a series of critically acclaimed projects including Long Live The Angels , Real Life , Let’s Say For Instance and How Were We To Know . Her music continues to be driven by honesty, emotion and a desire to explore new creative territory. Never one to make the same record twice, she has consistently allowed her sound and songwriting to evolve while retaining the powerful vocal identity that first made her a household name. Her work has explored love, identity, resilience, self-acceptance and the human experiences that connect us all.
