We will be stepping into a magical story set during the October Tattie Howking holidays of yesteryear, discovering how the old Hallowe'en favourite the turnip got replaced by the pumpkin, making our own 'neepy heid' lanterns taking part in a hallowe'en trick and making a potion to take home. Then follow the path set by another tale and see if you can spot certain trees with magical stories attached in the museum grounds.
Recommended age: 7+, but everyone is welcome to come along. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
All materials are included.
Each ticket includes admission for one adult and one child.
Included with each ticket are a turnip, carving spoons, a jam jar, and other materials needed to make traditional turnip cough syrup. The session begins with a story that explores local social history, followed by a short story. Participants will then take part in a hunt around the museum grounds to identify the tree varieties featured in the story.
