Elder Park Library in Glasgow will host 'The Map of my Heart - Mapa Mojego Serca' on 22 November 2026. This workshop will focus on personal memories and emotions related to Poland, allowing participants to create their own identity symbols.
Mapa Mojego Serca to warsztat poświęcony wspomnieniom, emocjom i osobistym historiom związanym z Polską. Map of My Heart is a workshop dedicated to memories, emotions, and personal stories connected to Poland. It is a unique space where art meets history, local identity, and individual experiences. The workshop begins with a conversation about Poland and its significance in the participants' lives. Together, we will reflect on what Poland means to us, the images, places, symbols, and memories it evokes, and the values we wish to preserve and pass on. In the first part of the workshop, participants will create their own stamps from linoleum and sponge, depicting symbols that are important to their national identity. These may include city coats of arms, iconic buildings, monuments, animals, plants, or any other motifs that hold personal meaning. Each design will become part of a unique and individual portrait of a Pole. The creative process will be accompanied by discussion and reflection on belonging, memory, and cultural heritage. It will also provide an opportunity to talk about passing on values, traditions, and a love of Poland to children and partners who may come from different cultural backgrounds. In the second part of the workshop, participants will use their handmade stamps to create prints using the mono printing technique. This shared creative experience will encourage participants to view one another's work, exchange ideas, and share stories and reflections. Map of My Heart is more than an art workshop. It is an opportunity to build connections, explore one/s roots, and discover Poland through personal stories, memories, and symbols. Free workshop with Beetroots Collective CIC. Book via Eventbrite.
