Another opportunity to learn the basics of drypoint etching with skilled printmaker Nick Coulbeck.

We welcome back Nick to People Make Grimsby, with an introduction session into Etching. After spending decades working in the local commercial printing industry, Nick now uses printmaking as his artistic practice, exhibiting his work across Lincolnshire.

Nick will deliver an informative and friendly workshop demonstrating the basics of the drypoint etching process, using etching tools, acrylic plates and high quality ink and paper. You will learn how to transfer your design onto the plate, etch line and texture, inking up, preparing paper and pulling your own prints using our studio etching press.

You will produce a set of prints to take home.

For the best use of the workshop time please bring any images you may wish to use. (We do not have a digital printer for workshop use).

This workshop is suitable for adults and children over 14 years accompanied by adults, due to the use of sharp tools and ink.

Aprons will be provided but please dress appropriately.

In this workshop you will :

develop dry point etching skills

etching and printing your own design based on the theme

use the studio space, printing presses and equipment

Adults interested in developing their existing printmaking practice

An image to work with - a line drawing to fit the plate of 140mm x 100mm (no bleed over the edges).

The cost of this workshop includes specialist materials that you will be using and drinks at £10 per person.
