"Grim: A Legend, A Truth and A Secret" is a historical fantasy novel that reimagines the local folklore surrounding Grim the Viking, the legendary founder of Grimsby. The story begins in Denmark, where the ruthless Viking Hodulf has murdered

the old king and usurped the throne. Seeking to secure his power, Hodulf orders the death of the young heir, Prince Havelock. A humble fisherman named Grim discovers the boy and courageously hides him from the new king's reach.

However, with Hodulf’s spies closing in, Grim is forced to make a desperate choice. Under a dark, starless sky, Grim, his family, and Prince Havelock secretly board a ship and flee Denmark into the unknown. The narrative follows their perilous journey across the sea, their struggles for survival, and the unfolding mystery behind a hidden truth tied to a secret pendant and ring.

Tracy Todd has written poetry, short stories, novels, TV scripts and business books. Her work has been featured in various magazines, Indigo Dreams, Hammond House and Mslexia. Unscanned was longlisted for Mslexia’s Novel Competition; The Apex Agenda was short-listed in 2025 for the Mslexia Children’s and Young Adult’s Competition and in 2026, The Apex Agenda TV Script, co-written with D. Scott-Jones, was a finalist in the Roadmap Top Tier Competition. She is currently writing three young adult series and spends much of her time dreaming up ‘what if’ scenarios and strange characters. She loves travelling and hiking in the Peak District.
