Flapper Fashion is an exhibition at Scotney Castle in Hastings. It features sequined dresses and haute couture pieces, including works by Callot Soeurs, discovered in the attic of the Mansion House. Admission is required.
Sequined dresses and haute couture names such as Callot Soeurs have recently been uncovered in the attic of the Mansion House.
On display for the very first time, these beautiful dresses belonging to Betty Hussey and mother Maud Kerr-Smiley showcase their taste in early 20th century high fashion.
Research has been undertaken to find photographic evidence of Betty and Maud wearing the clothes, with measurements taken to fully understand who the garments belonged to.
A perfect addition for fans of the V&A's Schiaparelli exhibition.
The display is located upstairs in the Mansion House. There is no step free access on the upper floors. Photographs of the display will be available upon request.
Description supplied by the event organiser.
