The Art of Urban Sketching : Adding watercolour to your sketches

Have you ever been on holiday and taken in a beautiful view, wandered through a town and noticed a piece of architecture that made you smile, or sat in a café, museum, or market watching the hustle and bustle of everyday life — and thought, “If only I could capture this moment as a sketch”?

If you’ve ever felt that way but didn’t know where to start, this session is for you.

This relaxed, welcoming workshop is open to all abilities and is designed to help you discover the joy of sketching on location. You’ll learn how to understand what you’re seeing and how to translate it onto the page — whether that’s buildings, people, or the atmosphere of a place. This month builds on the previous session on PERSPECTIVE, and LINE AND FORM, LITTLE PEOPLE, FOOD AND DRINK and this time focuses on adding a little colour to your sketches.

Be prepared to leave your worries at the door, slow down, and take your first steps into the world of urban sketching.

This event will be taking in the beautiful cafe market space of the co-working offices of Patch (see details below) but we WILL be going out during the session.

Your tutor, Rory Neary, has years of experience sketching on location and will be your guide throughout the session.
