Join us at our stunning community tree nursery based off Winchmore Hill in High Wycombe. We will grow native trees and shrubs from locally harvested seeds throughout the Chilterns. It is staffed by Chiltern Rangers but we also need the help of our skilled and trained volunteers as well as people of all ages and abilities from the wider community.

Transport & Address:

Meet us on site at 10am. We will be working at the Chiltern Rangers Community Tree Nursery.

Our Community Tree Nursery is located in Fagnall Farm Barns. Drive past the farm buildings on your right (including Form Pilates and FEC Helicopters) and a long beige barn on your left.... drive through the open gate where you will see another open-sided long barn on your left. Hardstanding for parking is at the far end of this barn and the tree nursery is on your right. Click here for a visual of where to park.

Please can we ask everyone to arrive on time to ensure you do not miss the health & safety and task briefing. If you are late and the session has already started, you may not be able to join. Thank you.

The Task:

Our Tree Nursery Tuesdays are to make sure that we care for and nuture all of the trees we are growing to plant out as hedgerows and larger trees across the Chilterns. This will be a day of practical tasks including watering, weeding, digging and thinning out.

Every week there will be different tasks and we would love to see you there.

New faces are always welcome and no experience is necessary. A perfect way to escape the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

Timings (please note these timings are approximate):

10.00: Arrival for safety briefing and start work

11.30: Tea & coffee break

13.00: Lunch break - please bring your own

15.30: Home time, thanks so much for your support

What to bring:

Please bring your gloves (we will have spares) and dress for the weather and the task.

Long trousers are advisable as there may be ticks and thorny vegetation. We also recommend wearing steel toe capped or sturdy boots rather than trainers.

Wear layers that you can remove if you get hot whilst working. Bring a waterproof as most of our sites have no shelter from the rain. If it's a sunny day you may want to bring a hat and some suncream.

Please bring plenty of fluids and a packed lunch. We will bring a tea kit and biscuits.

Access: The tree nursery is on level ground and suitable for all. There are no disabled toilet facilites on site.

Please note:

Biscuits are served at all Chiltern Rangers sessions. Please advise if you have an allergy.

Sometimes there is a need for us to use power tools that can be noisy.
