A free outdoor yoga and creative journalling workshop, Breathing with Trees, will be held at Holderness House in Hull on August 18, 2026, at 1pm.
Join yoga teacher Melissa Martin for a free outdoor yoga and creative journalling workshop.
Together we'll explore what trees can teach us about balance, resilience, and renewal. Through gentle movement, standing balance practices, guided breathing, and relaxation in the stunning grounds of Holderness House, you'll be invited to notice the connections between breath, body, and the living world around you.
The session continues with creative activities including free writing, drawing, tree-text cut-ups, and leaf and bark rubbings. Expect reflective prompts, unexpected insights and the chance to create your own pieces of tree wisdom.
Expect wobbling, hidden strength, renewed energy, and perhaps an even deeper love of trees.
Melissa Martin is a yoga teacher with over 22 years’ experience, qualified with a BWY Diploma in 2009, working across adult, NHS stroke rehab, school, and family settings in styles including Hatha, restorative, chair, and park yoga. She is also Director of Breathing Green, a yoga and ecotherapy social enterprise, and a fine art graduate who facilitates surrealist writing and art workshops.
No writing or artistic experience is needed. Suitable for ages 16+. If you book on and then find you are no longer able to make it, please cancel your ticket on Eventbrite so we can release the ticket to someone else. Thank you.
This activity has been commissioned by Hull and East Riding Friends of the Earth as part of Tree Stories, a creative community nature project funded by the National Lottery Communities Fund.
