The 'Heritage Festival - Around Kinrara' will be held on 19 September 2026 at Dalraddy Holiday Park, Alvie & Dalraddy Estates in Inverness. The festival, which costs £9.38 to attend, includes visits to the monuments of the Duke and Duchess of Gordon and Kinrara House.
Join us as we visit the monuments of both the Duke and Duchess of Gordon, visit the grounds of Kinrara House, and pass Croftgowan.
Eve Boyle, ex Historic Environment Scotland and one of our regular speakers, will lead this walk around Torr Alvie. The walk will take in the Duke of Gordon memorial which is sited on what was once a pictish hill fort, the grounds of Kinrara House, and the Duchess of Gordon Memorial. The tour will also pass Croftgowan where there was an archaeological dig in 2021 on the largest barrow cemetery.
As usual, Eve will be entertaining and provocative, and will tell us why she believes the Battle of Nectansmere took place in this area.
The walk will be led by Eve Boyle.
The walk will start at 10am, so please aim to turn up 10 minutes before the start at the Dalraddy Car Park.
Please bring drinks with you for sustenance.
Pre-booking is essential.
Please wear stout footwear as the ground may be rough underfoot. Also please wear outerwear that is appropriate for the weather on the day.
