WHAT YOU WILL LEARN

1 Paediatric first aider duties

Responsibilities, infection control and age-specific first aid.

2 Assessing an emergency

Scene survey, primary survey and summoning assistance safely.

3 Unresponsive infants & children

CPR, recovery position, breathing checks and seizures.

4 Infant & child choking

Recognising an obstructed airway and demonstrating first aid.

5 External bleeding

Recognising life-threatening bleeding and controlling blood loss.

6 Shock

Recognising shock and providing appropriate emergency first aid.

7 Bites, stings & minor injuries

Cuts, grazes, bruises, splinters and nosebleeds.
