Studio 4 in Leicester will host a three-week workshop titled 'Winter Layers: Print and Collage' starting on 13 November 2026. The creative course explores collage and printmaking, bookable from 3 August 2026, with prices between £45 and £60.
This event will be bookable on Monday 3 August 2026. A seasonal three-week dive into the exciting world of collage and printmaking. In this creative three-week course we will be experimenting with monoprinting, textured prints, layering, cutting and composition to create mixed-media, original artworks. All inspired by the approach of winter and the festivals celebrated during this period. Packed with hands-on making, creative exploration, and inspiring techniques, this course is perfect for anyone looking to unleash their creativity and discover new ways of working with print and collage. Week 1 : Print & Collect Experiment with simple printmaking techniques such as monoprinting and textured printing to create a library of papers, marks, and surfaces. Explore colour, pattern and texture while building a collection of materials for collage. Week 2 : Cut, Layer & Compose Learn collage techniques including composition, image transfer, layering and visual storytelling. Combine your printed papers with found materials to create a series of experimental studies and develop personal themes. Week 3 : Refine & Create Bring your ideas together in a finished mixed-media artwork. Explore ways to integrate print and collage, adding detail, depth and visual impact in your own evolving creative style. All materials are provided, and no experience is needed – just bring your creativity! About the tutor: Tutor Jo Shearer is an artist and art educator from Leicestershire. Jo believes that art is for everyone. After teaching art in secondary schools and colleges in Hertfordshire and Leicestershire for over 10 years she moved into one-to-one tuition and workshops. She enjoys nurturing creativity and developing skills to build confidence, and recognises the therapeutic benefits achieved through the process of making. She loves the freedom of working in a variety of media and has a passion for printmaking. Further information: Participants must be aged 18+. This 3-week course will run on Fridays, 10am – 2pm, starting on 13 November and ending on 27 November 2026. Please wear old clothes and/or bring an apron – printing can get messy! If the course/workshop you’d like to book is sold out, we do operate a waiting list – simply contact our box office team on 0116 252 2455 / arts-centre@le.ac.uk and ask to be added to the waiting list. We’ll then contact you if a place becomes available, with absolutely no obligation to accept it if you’ve made other plans! Please ensure that you read and agree to our updated Terms & Conditions before booking as courses/workshops are non-refundable in some circumstances. We aim to make all our sessions as accessible as possible and carers/PAs are very welcome – just remember to book their free place when you book your session.
