The Liver Dog Wellness Club with Pawsitively Does It

Build confidence with canine first aid essentials from Dawn at Pawsitively Does It

Join us for the next The Liver Dog Wellness Club, this time at Phoenix Coffee in Bootle.

We’re welcoming Dawn from Pawsitively Does It for a practical introduction to canine first aid.

Emergencies are something none of us want to imagine. However, knowing what to do can help you feel more prepared.

Dawn will share some key first aid essentials every dog owner can benefit from understanding.

The session will include checking your dog’s pulse, rescue breaths and canine CPR. You’ll also learn how this knowledge can help during an emergency.

This is a relaxed introductory session. So, you don’t need any previous first aid experience to join us.

Sunday 8th November 2026

12:00pm to 2:00pm

Phoenix Coffee, Bootle

£7 per person

And your ticket will support other dogs in our local community too.

£2 from every paid ticket will be donated to Care for the Paw.

Visiting with Your Dog

Dogs are very welcome to join us, but every attending dog needs a free dog ticket.

Please only bring dogs who are comfortable in a cafe setting. They should also feel settled around unfamiliar people and other dogs.

Dogs must remain on lead and under their owner’s control throughout the event.

Importantly, the emergency techniques covered during this session should not be practised on dogs attending the event.

Techniques such as rescue breaths and CPR are intended for dogs requiring emergency attention. So, please don’t try them on a healthy dog during or after the session.

Coming without your dog? You’re just as welcome.

Canine First Aid Essentials

Dawn will introduce some of the first aid knowledge that can help owners feel more confident during an emergency.

We’ll look at how to check a dog’s pulse and what that can tell you.

Dawn will also cover the essentials of rescue breathing and canine CPR.

The aim is not to turn you into a canine first aid professional in two hours.

Instead, the session will give you a better understanding of some potentially important first steps.

However, this is a short introductory session. Attendance does not provide a canine first aid qualification or certification.

The information shared is educational and should never replace veterinary advice or emergency veterinary treatment.

If your dog needs urgent medical attention, please contact a veterinary professional as soon as possible.

Meet Dawn from Pawsitively Does It

Dawn is the founder of Liverpool-based Pawsitively Does It, which supports dog owners across the North West.

She has years of experience working with rescue dogs. Her work also covers behaviour and training, from puppies through to more challenging behavioural concerns. Dawn describes herself as fully qualified and insured, with ongoing professional development forming part of her work.

Alongside her behaviour and training experience, Dawn regularly delivers Canine First Aid Level 2 (VTQ) courses. Her listed courses have received consistently strong feedback for her knowledge, clear explanations and friendly teaching style.

That wider understanding of canine behaviour is particularly valuable. It means the session is not only about first aid techniques, but also understanding the dogs in front of us.

Supporting Care for the Paw

By joining us, you’ll also be helping an important local cause.

We’ll donate £2 from every paid attendee ticket to Care for the Paw.

Care for the Paw supports dogs living alongside owners experiencing homelessness or insecure accommodation. Their work includes providing food, coats, collars, leads and other essentials.

They also help dogs access free veterinary care when their owners cannot afford treatment. The charity works across Liverpool, Knowsley, Sefton and Wirral.

So, you can learn something useful for your own dog while helping dogs elsewhere in our community too.

What to Expect

Expect a friendly and informal session designed to make canine first aid feel more approachable.

Dawn will talk through key emergency first aid essentials and help you understand when they may be needed.

The focus is on building knowledge and confidence, rather than providing formal training or a qualification.

You’ll also be spending the afternoon with other local dog owners in a relaxed, dog-friendly setting.

Before You Visit

Please book a £7 ticket for each attending person.

If your dog is joining you, remember to add their free dog ticket to your booking.

Please only bring dogs who will feel comfortable in this type of social environment.

And remember, the emergency techniques discussed during the session should not be practised on healthy dogs attending the event.

Before travelling, please check your Eventbrite booking and The Liver Dog’s official channels for any event updates.
