Come join our fun Introduction to Sewing Class where you'll learn the basics of sewing in a creative and interactive in-person setting. Our Intro to Sewing class is designed especially for absolute beginners – no prior experience needed, no pressure, and no silly questions. Just a friendly, supportive environment where you'll learn the very basics of sewing from the ground up. Whether you're curious about crafting, looking to mend your own clothes, or dreaming of making your own garments or homeware, this introductory session is your gateway into the world of sewing. What You’ll Learn: Over the course of this short, focused class, we’ll guide you through the essential skills you need to get started with confidence. You’ll learn: ~ How to thread a sewing machine correctly ~ Winding a bobbin and understanding its function ~ How to change a needle safely and correctly ~ Getting to know the parts and settings of a sewing machine ~ Practising a range of basic stitches, including straight, zig-zag, and decorative ~ How to troubleshoot common beginner issues (like tangled thread or skipped stitches) ~ Using different types of fabric ~ Safe and efficient use of sewing tools By the end of the session, you’ll have completed several small but satisfying sewing projects to take home – useful and lovely pieces that you’ll feel proud of. More importantly, you’ll leave with the confidence to continue practising at home or take the next step with one of our more in-depth classes. Who Is It For? This course is ideal for complete beginners aged 13+. Maybe you’ve never touched a sewing machine before, or perhaps you tried once but gave up in frustration – wherever you're starting from, we’ll meet you there. We keep our class sizes small to ensure that everyone receives plenty of personal guidance and hands-on help throughout.
