About This Event

The AlphaChess FIDE Triathlon on September 26th at Wyllyotts Theatre in London features three distinct rounds: Standard chess with a time control of 80 minutes plus ten seconds per move; Rapid chess with a limit of 10 minutes plus five seconds per move; and Blitz chess with a timing of three minutes plus two seconds per move. Though participating in all events is encouraged, the context suggests this mixed format offers engaging challenges for both casual and competitive players alike.

The London FIDE Triathlon is a festival of varying tempos!

Three rounds of Standard 80+10

Six rounds of Rapid 10+5

Nine rounds of Blitz 3+2

Though we believe joining all three events is the most fun, we’re happy to accept flexible entries—from single games or speeds, to one-day participation.

Entry fee for all three tournaments is £70, and we offer a £725+ prize fund As well as trophies if we reach 30 all-event entrants. Random cash prizes are awarded in any section with 10+ players.

The venue is just five minutes from a mainline station and key junctions on the A1(M) and M25.

We especially welcome female players and have set up a ‘cashback’ scheme. All female players will receive £10 cashback on Day 2 if they play all rounds. We also welcome unrated and new players.
