The Chinese have been a presence in London since the 19th century. Since then, the ever-shifting political situation in China as well as its complex relationship with Britain has resulted in distinct waves of immigration from China. Originally, most were seamen arriving after the Opium War, but they were also academics and students. Mostly recently, the huge influx has been families arriving from the former British Colony of Hong Kong. Come see where and how they made their lives, and what prejudices and challenges did they encountered both then and now.
