This special all-day workshop, suitable for complete beginners, takes you from music lover to mixing master. We'll cover everything you need to start spinning tunes with confidence, from basic beat-matching, to building your library, to making your performances stand out. The workshop is taught on pro-grade digital decks that mirror the setups found in real clubs and venues, and each participant will get a guided 1:1 tutorial as they step up to the decks for the first time.

The workshop is led by London-based DJ and promoter Hostmigrate, who has five years experience DJing at venues like Corsica Studios, The Greyhound, Planet Wax, and AAJA.

This workshop will cover the fundamentals of club-style DJing, including:

- How to use DJ equipment (digital decks and mixer)

- Beatmatching and transitions

- Using sound effects to enhance your mix

- Finding and preparing music on USB sticks

- How to 'read' a crowd and make your performance stand out

- Back-to-back performances and working together on the decks

What to bring

- A laptop with Rekordbox DJ (https://rekordbox.com/en/ (https://rekordbox.com/en/)) installed and 5-10 tracks downloaded in MP3 format*

- A USB stick, with any adapters you need to connect it to your laptop**

- If you prefer not to share headphones with other people, please bring a pair of wired headphones.

- A notepad and pen
