Insane Asylum Seekers present a theatrical production at the Bush Theatre in London on 19 February 2027. The story follows a family navigating the aftermath of fleeing Iraq and seeking asylum in the UK.
Thirty years ago, Laith's parents fled Iraq to escape Saddam Hussein's dictatorship and claimed asylum in the UK. Now his family is falling apart while Laith struggles to hide his darkest secret. Funny and moving, Insane Asylum Seekers is an autobiographical play from British-Iraqi award-winning playwright Laith Elzubaidi which explores British-Iraqi identity, generational trauma, family expectations, and the realities of the refugee experience.
