About Oh, Mary!

Oh, Mary! at Trafalgar Theatre is an 80-minute one-act play by Cole Escola, directed by Sam Pinkleton. It is a dark comedy set in the weeks leading up to Abraham Lincoln’s assassination, with Mason Alexander Park starring as Mary Todd Lincoln for this London transfer.

The play follows a miserable, suffocated Mary Todd Lincoln as it explores unrequited yearning, alcoholism and suppressed desires through the perspective of the playwright’s “idiot” lens. It was described by The New York Times as “one of the best comedies in years” and received Tony Awards for Best Leading Actor in a Play and Best Direction of a Play.

For the London cast, Mason Alexander Park stars as Mary Todd Lincoln, alongside Kate O’Donnell as Mary’s Chaperone, Oliver Stockley as Mary’s Husband’s Assistant, Dino Fetscher as Mary’s Teacher and Giles Terera as Mary’s Husband.

Mary Todd Lincoln will be played by Mason Alexander Park until 18 July, Cole Escola from 20 July to 15 August, and Jinkx Monsoon from 17 August to 26 September. Due to personal reasons, Catherine Tate will no longer perform in Oh, Mary! at the Trafalgar Theatre.
