90-minute journey into presence, designed to offer an opportunity to step away from the noise, stimulation, and reconnect with yourself.

Arriving into presence

Before we move into sound, we begin by slowing down.

Ruth Hoey (https://www.instagram.com/re.nurture/) will gently guide you through a combination of silence, mindfulness, soothing breathwork and meditation, allowing time to arrive fully in the space and become more aware of your body, your breath and what is present for you.

There will also be an opportunity to be nourished by a calming herbal tea, woven naturally into the experience.

Then we journey into sound

Once settled, you will be invited to lie down and receive an immersive one-hour sound journey.

Ruth intuitively weaves together gongs, crystal and metal singing bowls, drum, chimes, voice and other instruments to create a rich and varied landscape of sound.

90 minutes where there is nowhere else you need to be and nothing you need to achieve.

The combination of mindfulness, breath, stillness and sound may support you to:

• step away from mental and sensory stimulation

• create conditions that may help the nervous system settle

• experience a deeper sense of presence and embodiment

• notice sensations, emotions or needs that can become harder to hear when life is busy

• experience intentional rest without needing to “do” anything

• reconnect with your breath and body

• create space for reflection, release or simply being

• explore your relationship with silence as well as sound

Everyone experiences sound differently. Some people may feel deeply rested, others may notice emotions, physical sensations, imagery or thoughts arising, and for some the experience may simply be an opportunity to pause.

There is no particular state you are expected to reach.

At the heart of Ruth's Sound Journey is an invitation to listen not only to the instruments, but to yourself.

Please bring your yoga mat. We also encourage you to bring a blanket to stay warm and cosy throughout the Sound Journey, as your body temperature can naturally drop while lying still for an extended period. You may also want to bring an eye mask and cushion for extra comfort.

After the sound journey, we’ll be heading to the Bar90 terrace for Sunday Roast. Stay, grab some food, meet new people and spend the evening with the Sound & Silence community.
