Folklorist Jon Norman Mason will present a talk on the folklore of stone circles at 21Soho in London. The event takes place on 1 September 2026 at 19:00 and includes a Q&A session. Tickets are priced between £13.00 and £35.00.
Explore the secrets, wonder and mystery of Britain’s stone circles with folklorist Jon Norman Mason. Followed by Q&A.
Stone circles are among the most iconic, and mysterious, monuments in the British landscape: weathered witnesses to ancient times, they captivate our curiosity and our imaginations. And past generations were just as drawn to their evocative presence -leaving us stories as they tried to explain these sites. While most know about the iconic neolithic Stonehenge, the UK is home to hundreds of other ancient stone circles built thousands of years ago for mysterious ceremonial and astronomical purposes.
Join folklorist, historian and storyteller Jon Norman Mason to explore the tales, dreams, wild guesses and old beliefs that have gathered around the stones over the centuries - from lost kings to petrified sinners, mischievous fairies to ancient giants. And beneath it all, the archaeology that offers us a modern take on what the stones mean!
Doors open at 7pm, talk starts at 7:30pm - come down early to grab a good seat!
