About The Standard of Living

The Standard of Living at the Theatre Royal Haymarket is a brand new world-premiere play by Olivier Award-winning playwright James Graham. Directed by multi award-winner Nicholas Hytner, it opens in the West End for a strictly limited 12-week season from 21 September.

The play tells the story of economist John Maynard Keynes, moving between Whitehall and a circle of artists, writers and lovers including Lydia Lopokova, Duncan Grant and Virginia Woolf. Set against markets crashing and Britain tipping into chaos, it asks what makes a good life.

Starring Olivier Award winner Rory Kinnear and Royal Ballet principal Natalia Osipova in her West End debut, the production combines music, dance, desire and debate in a portrait of a man imagining something different.

Suggested for ages 12+. Natalia Osipova will not be appearing at the Evening performances on Friday 16 October, Wednesday 21 October and Wednesday 4 November, or at the Matinee and Evening performances on Thursday 22 October and Thursday 5 November.

No exchanges or refunds are available after purchase. Access bookings are managed via the Theatre Royal Haymarket Digital Access Pass. If you have a Nimbus/Access card and the +1 is not for a mobility issue, you can select any price excluding Premiums and pay full price for one ticket, with the +1 ticket free, processed as two tickets at half price. If you are disabled due to mobility or are deaf or visually impaired, stalls seats are available at £25, excluding Premiums, subject to internal allocation. There are 4 seats held in the centre of Stalls D for visual and hearing issues, 4 pairs on the aisles for mobility issues, and 2 wheelchair spaces.
