About The Standard of Living
The Standard of Living at Theatre Royal Haymarket is a brand new world-premiere play by James Graham, directed by Nicholas Hytner. It opens in the West End for a strictly limited 12-week season and stars Olivier Award winner Rory Kinnear and Royal Ballet principal Natalia Osipova, in her West End debut.
The play tells the story of economist and Bloomsbury Group member John Maynard Keynes. It follows him between Whitehall and a radical circle of artists, writers and lovers, including his wife Lydia Lopokova, Duncan Grant and Virginia Woolf.
As markets crash and old systems come under strain, Keynes is forced to consider what makes a good life. The production brings together music, dance, desire and debate in a portrait of a man trying to imagine something better.
Key facts: Suggested for ages 12+. Opening at Theatre Royal Haymarket from 21 September for a strictly limited 12-week season.
