The Tulse Hill: Lambeth's Surprising Centre event will be held at Tulse Hill Station in London on September 13, 2026. The event is a guided tour led by Lambeth Tour Guide Nikky Catto, with a ticket price of £11.55.
Join Lambeth Tour Guide Nikky Catto to learn about the surprising history, intrigue, inspiration and housing of Tulse Hill.
There is so much more to Tulse Hill than the traffic system. There's more David Bowie here than in Brixton and quite the clash of music hall dramas including two missing husbands and a link to Monte Carlo. This Sunday morning walk will teach you about the history of the schools that give the area an alumni to rival a Hollywood agent's address book. We'll float like a butterfly up the hill learning how it got its name and how Jimi Hendrix is rumoured to have found himself in one of the area's many pubs.
The tour will take in Lambeth Architect Ted Hollamby's William Morris inspired Cressingham Gardens Estate and why without that land we wouldn't have Brockwell Park as we know it today. William Morris would approve of the beauty and protest Tulse Hill has created over its centuries. It's the quiet ones you should watch!
The walk is two hours long and just over 1 mile in distance. We will be step free throughout but walking uphill with stops and some parkland. We finish at Cressingham Gardens on a linear route.
Please meet outside Tulse Hill Station for a 10am prompt start. Our first stop is in the pedestrianised area there if you are late.
The previous Sunday we will do the first section of this Station to Station walk with Unexpected West Norwood: A Walking Tour.
