About This Event

The Women Making It with Glasgow Women's Library event will take place at the LSE Library: The British Library of Political and Economic Science in London on 2026-09-16, celebrating women's print media with Glasgow Women's Library. The event is free to attend.

Join a fun evening celebrating women's print media with Glasgow Women’s Library!

To continue the celebration of The Women’s Library's 100th anniversary, Glasgow Women’s Library will be taking up residence at LSE Library for one evening to create your own 2027 Feminist Diary, inspired by the rich history of feminist magazines, posters, postcards, and activist print culture.

In this relaxed, hands-on workshop, you'll use scrapbooking and collage techniques to transform a plain diary into a beautiful and personal keepsake. Using a variety of papers, images, quotes, decorative materials, and mixed-media craft supplies, you'll layer, cut, arrange, and decorate pages that reflect your creativity, interests, and values.

Throughout the workshop, you'll explore inspiring feminist messages and imagery, weaving them throughout your diary so they can be discovered as you use it during the year - offering moments of motivation, reflection, and encouragement.

No previous craft experience is needed. Whether you use your diary to capture ideas, dreams, plans, or everyday notes, you'll leave with a unique and practical journal that celebrates feminist history while inspiring your own journey through 2027

Women’s journals, magazines and newsletters document women’s lives through the ages. The LSE Library collection includes our earliest titles from the 18th century. Many titles disseminated women’s political ideas and illustrated the development of the publishing industry for women’s popular magazines from the 19th century onwards. LSE Library also holds journals relating to campaigning and feminist groups in addition to those of professional and voluntary organisations. We will use this material to inspire and make our own creations!

Glasgow Women’s Library is the only Accredited Museum in the UK dedicated to women’s lives, histories and achievements, with a lending library, archive collections and innovative programmes of public events & learning opportunities.
