Led by experienced bibliotherapist Nicole Moody, you’ll be guided through the art of this ancient practice, and the joy of reading for well-being will be revealed.
We will explore the neurological benefits of reading as an antidote to the more superficial skim reading required as part of daily digital life and look at different wellbeing frameworks that can help us brings more intentionality to our reading.
Each participant will receive personal attention to gain a better sense of how to curate their own reading habits, choices and processes to help develop more clarity and self-knowledge, and better interpersonal relationships.
The Bibliotherapy workshop will include:
A potted introduction to Bibliotherapy, and its unique strengths as a
resource to encourage self-knowledge and growth
A group activity focusing on our response to literature to help us
reflect on our deeper selves
Time spent with like-minded individuals in a gentle and welcoming group setting
The day will also include a guided foraging walk, to relax into our bodies and open our mind to the plants, flora and fruits that grows wildly in our hedgerows in Autumn, let by Rosie Hill from Wild Ivy Retreats.

Welcome and Settle – Meet our lovely group for the day and relax into the beautiful setting where our morning retreat will be held.
Step Outside – Rosie will guide us on a foraging walk, learning about edible plants and their healing properties, along with the stories and folklore that surround them.
Bibliotherapy Workshop – A potted introduction to bibliotherapy and its unique strengths as a resource to encourage self-knowledge and growth. This includes a group activity focusing on our response to literature, helping us reflect on our deeper selves. Nicole Moody, Bibliotherapy BA, MA, FHEA
Nicole is a faculty member at The American Institute for Foreign Study (AIFS) in London where she has worked since 2008, teaching a range of courses to American undergraduate students.
Partly as a response to the pandemic, Nicole designed, developed and delivered a new course, “Bibliotherapy – The Art of Reading for Wellbeing” for AIFS (accredited by Fairfield University, Connecticut). This course explores the way reading and writing for wellbeing can be used as a tool towards improving the quality of our everyday lives, aiding the enhancement of self-esteem, interpersonal relationships, unleashing creativity and helping us deal with the challenges facing today’s world.
