About This Event

Learn how to build a professional website for your business using Wix in this practical, hands-on workshop. Your website is often the first impression a potential customer gets of your business — but building one yourself can feel daunting if you don’t know where to start. In this practical, hands-on workshop, Bhups Chauhan will guide you step by step through planning, building and improving your own professional website using Wix — one of the most popular DIY website-building platforms. Designed specifically for small businesses, sole traders and start-ups, this session will take you from the foundations of choosing a domain name through to creating pages, adding content and understanding the basics of SEO. And this isn’t a session where you’ll just sit and watch. Please bring your laptop with you, as you’ll have the opportunity to log into Wix, follow along with Bhups and start putting what you learn into practice during the workshop. No previous website-building, coding or design experience is required. What you'll learn During the session, we'll cover: Why every business needs a website and what yours should achieve How to choose, check and buy a domain name What makes a website effective, including structure, speed, mobile-friendliness and building trust The different Wix website-building options and which is right for you How to choose and customise a Wix template for your business How to create and structure the key pages your website needs How to add and edit text, images and video How people read and scan websites — and how to design your pages with this in mind The basics of SEO, including keywords, page titles, meta titles and descriptions How to use Wix's built-in SEO tools to help search engines find and understand your website Practical tips for getting your website ready to go live Who is this workshop for? You don't need any previous technical, coding or design experience. Bhups will take you through the process in straightforward, practical steps that you can apply to your own business. What you'll need Please bring a laptop with you to the session. This is a practical workshop, so you'll get the most from it by following along and trying things for yourself as Bhups demonstrates them. By the end of the workshop, you'll have a much clearer understanding of how to create, edit and manage your own website — and the confidence to continue building it after the session.
