About This Event

Auris Festival returns to Manchester on 11 October 2026 for its final day, bringing a dedicated sound art celebration across the city's Oxford Road Corridor. The event features performances by Lola de la Mata, Ryoko Akama, and WEȽ∝KER at venues including SEESAW, The Anthony Burgess Foundation, and Manchester Metropolitan University. Tickets are available for £22.50 or £30.00, offering access to a diverse programme of acoustic installations and live acts throughout the afternoon.

Performances

On the final day of Auris,Lola de la Mata (https://www.aurisfestival.com/programme/lola-de-la-mata) brings her custom-built Tacet Friction Harp to the festival with TAC(I)ET: and implied silence.Ryoko Akama (https://www.aurisfestival.com/programme/ryoko-akama) presents shimatsu (始末), an intimate performance using objects, domestic appliances and electronic devices, before WEȽ∝KER close the festival with an enhanced quadrophonic live performance built around highly improvised systems.

Talks & Workshops

Jez riley French (https://www.aurisfestival.com/programme/jez-riley-french) opens Sunday with Choreographies of Perception, an informal talk exploring extended technologies, durational listening and sounds often outside human attention. Kamila Narysheva and Vicky Clarke (https://www.aurisfestival.com/programme/kamila-narysheva-vicky-clarke-and-niki-colclough) explore the sonic and historical legacy of nuclear testing in Kazakhstan through an artist talk, archival material and film screening. Emma Margetson (https://www.aurisfestival.com/programme/emma-margetson) presents Diffuse Architectures: Sound, Space, and the IKO loudspeaker, using the twenty-faced IKO loudspeaker as a spatial instrument to explore the relationship between sound, architecture and perception.

Soundwalk

Maya Chowdhry (https://www.aurisfestival.com/programme/maya-chowdhry) leads Sonic Shadows, a creative soundwalk using microphones and biodata sonification to uncover hidden sounds, textures and resonances across Manchester's landscape.

Installations

Kamila Narysheva and Vicky Clarke's T ½ (Half-Life), examining post-nuclear landscapes through sound and field recordings from the Semipalatinsk Nuclear Test Site.

Spatial Audio

A curatedspatial audio listening programme (https://www.aurisfestival.com/programme/spatial-audio) runs alongside the day's live events, featuring recorded work from Brona Martin, Text-Sound-Art, Miko Tchórzewski, Marcus Decker, Bernard Kelly, Totaleee, Horse Lords, Nye Parry, Cameron Naylor, Arconic Sound, Scald, Jose Macabra and Mick Harris.
