Meet, Write & Sauna

Have you ever thought, “I wish there was a place where I could meet some new people, do a guided journalling session, and then get in a sauna with them?”

No? Me either, but that’s what we’re doing for this special edition of Journal Club as part of Hinterland Festival.

We're teaming up with Kontrast (the UK's first community-focused sauna and ice bath café!) for a morning of writing, conversation, connection and sauna.

We'll start with some light-hearted guided journalling, with plenty of time to write, chat and meet new people. The Journalling session is followed by 45 mins in the Sauna exclusively for us.

No writing experience needed. Come on your own or bring a mate.

What to expect

9:00–9:45 — Journalling Session

Guided prompts, quiet writing time and easygoing conversation.

9:45–10:30 — Sauna

A 45-minute sauna session at Kontrast with the group.

Your ticket includes both the Journal Club session and sauna.

What to bring:

•⁠ ⁠Journal & Pen

•⁠ ⁠Pair of flip flop/slides (these are mandatory, can be borrowed if you need)

•⁠ ⁠Swimwear (non negotiable :) )

•⁠ ⁠2 x Towels (one for use in the sauna, and one for after your shower to get dry)

•⁠ ⁠Water bottle

•⁠ ⁠Bag for your wet clothes after the session

•⁠ ⁠You can also rent towels from Kontrast if needed!

About the facilitator:

Fi (they/them) is a facilitator and reflective coach based at Hinterland. They hold small group sessions that offer space for reflection, conversation, and careful thinking about life, work, and change. Their work is grounded, gently structured, and focused on creating safe, thoughtful spaces rather than providing answers.
