About This Event

On 5 September 2026, a historic walking tour titled '#2 MOUSEHOLD HEATH & THE MILITARY' will take place at Norwich Viewing Point Car Park in Norwich. This casual stroll invites participants to explore the hidden military history of Mousehold Heath with a variety of performers. The event is priced at zero and is presented as a forthcoming outdoor activity.

Join us for a fun, laid-back stroll exploring the hidden history of the Military on Mousehold Heath!

Join us for a casual walking tour of the Military history of Mousehold Heath!

Come along to learn how the heath was shaped by the military between the 18th Century and the 1950s. Together we will uncover how Mousehold was transformed from common farmland to an army training ground, complete with barracks, drill ground and, later, training trenches. We will also visit the site of Mousehold Heath Aerodrome, a key player in the history of the international aviation industry.

This two hour tour will involve a steady walk throughout the heath with plenty of stops, so make sure to bring comfortable walking shoes!

We will meet at the Britannia Barracks Car park and return there by midday!

All ages welcome!
