In this presentation we shall explore aspects of life on Norfolk’s coast through a range of historic finds and objects which illustrate the lives of the people who have lived here throughout the last million years. Each object tells a fascinating story in its own right, adding depth and colour to our understanding of the past, while also revealing the often crucial role Norfolk has played in our national story.
Dr John A. Davies was Chief Curator for Norfolk Museums Service and Keeper of Archaeology until 2018, where he was also Director for the project to redevelop the historic Norman keep at Norwich Castle. He has worked as an archaeologist in Norfolk since 1984 and is a highly experienced museum professional of over forty years.
His publications include, The Land of Boudica: Prehistoric and Roman Norfolk (2009), Castles in the Anglo-Norman World (2015), The Little History of Norfolk (2020) and Exploring Norfolk’s Deep History Coast (2023).
