About This Event

The Sisterhood Collective will visit the University of Nottingham King's Meadow Campus to present an evening exploring photographic archives and feminist photography.

An evening visit to the UoN Manuscripts and Special Collections, exploring photographic archives, found photographs and feminist photography

Join The Sisterhood Collective for a special visit to the University of Nottingham’s Manuscripts and Special Collections at King’s Meadow Campus.

During the visit, archivist Sarah Colborne and her colleague Catherine will introduce us to the work of the department, including how photographic materials are preserved, catalogued, digitised and made accessible.

We’ll have the opportunity to visit the digitisation studio and archive strong room, and to see a display of photographic material from the collections, with a focus on found photographs and feminist photography.

This will be a chance to spend time with archive material, learn more about how photographic collections are cared for, and think about photography in relation to memory, history, access and feminist practice.

DIRECTIONS

Detailed information on how to get there and meeting point on the day will be shared with participants closer to the time.

Please note that due to the nature of the material on display, no food or drink is allowed during this visit.
