This trail is a self-guided route through the estate. Follow signs from the Quarry car park to access information and activities for your family to enjoy. Although the activities are aimed at primary school children, everyone will learn something new about this special place. Just watch out for those naughty boggarts!

Time slots have been provided for bookings to reduce congestion in the car park. Please turn up at any time during your slot and follow signs to start the trail. This is a self-guided trail and there will not be staff on site to greet you.

The trail is approximately 3.5 km long, starting at our Quarry car park and running to Malham Tarn House and back. It mainly follows estate tracks surfaced with tarmac or compacted gravel. There is a small section of uncompacted gravel around Tarn House.

It is suitable for robust pushchairs and wheelchairs if able to cope with gravel. Some activities leave the track briefly and take place in grassy fields, but these can be viewed from the track.

There are no toilets at the car park but a public toilet is available at the Orchid House, approximately 1.5km from the car park, at the turn-around point.

There are no facilities on-site for refreshments so please bring your own if required and remember to take any litter home with you.

Please note that this is a countryside site and there will not necessarily be any staff on site during the event. In the case of an emergency you will need to call for assistance yourself.
