An online event on 14 September 2026 celebrating the launch of Val Mullally's book 'The Heart of Listening: the Transformative Power of Reflective SuperVision', featuring John Wilson and Val Mullally.
Join John Wilson and Val Mullally celebrating the launch of her book 'The Heart of Listening: the Transformative Power of Reflective SuperVision'.
Why do some reflective practice sessions circle familiar ground whilst others evoke fresh insight?
Join author and SuperVision facilitator Val Mullally and Online Events founder John Wilson for a conversation celebrating the launch of ‘The Heart of Listening: The Transformative Power of Reflective SuperVision’.
After decades of working as a coach, supervisor, trainer and reflective practitioner, Val became increasingly curious about a simple but important question: What is it that enables people to think clearly, reflect deeply and access their own wisdom? That question became the foundation for her latest book.
In this relaxed and engaging conversation, Val will share some of the stories, experiences and insights that shaped her thinking and her understanding of what makes reflective conversations transformative. Together, Val and John will explore what distinguishes Heart Listening from everyday listening, and how the quality of our listening shapes the depth and possibilities of what unfolds in reflective practice.
This is not a lecture or a chapter-by-chapter tour of the book. Instead, it is an opportunity to step behind the scenes and discover how the ideas developed, what surprised Val along the way, and what she hopes readers will take from the book.
During the session, she will read a vignette from the book, and there will be an opportunity to participate in a live Q&A. Along the way, we’ll explore why some conversations merely circle familiar ground while others open new possibilities, fresh awareness and deeper understanding.
Part book launch and part reflective conversation, this event offers a thoughtful introduction to the ideas at the heart of the book while inviting us to look again at one of the most important elements of our work: the quality of our listening.
